About the Opportunity
Kern Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (KernBHRS) is seeking qualified Psychiatrists to provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and clinical consultation services for individuals receiving specialty mental health and substance use disorder treatment services throughout Kern County.
We are actively recruiting physicians with experience or training in one or more of the following specialties:
- Adult Psychiatry
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Addiction Psychiatry
- Geriatric Psychiatry
- Correctional Psychiatry
Physicians will work with multidisciplinary behavioral health teams serving a diverse patient population, including children, adolescents, adults, older adults, individuals experiencing psychiatric crises, and justice-involved individuals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Provide medication management services
- Develop and monitor treatment plans
- Document services accurately within the electronic health record (EHR)
- Participate in case consultations and interdisciplinary treatment planning
- Order and review appropriate laboratory studies when indicated
- Provide discharge planning and continuity of care recommendations
- Attend clinic meetings and collaborate with behavioral health teams
- Follow established clinical policies and documentation standards
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Current California Physician and Surgeon License
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

- Forensic Psychiatry
- General Adult Psychiatry
Work Schedule
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Clinic operating hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Telepsychiatry opportunities may be available based on program needs
